Roller Coaster Accident

Local emergency crews were called to the site of the now closed Miracle Strip Amusement Park on Front Beach Road at Panama City Beach.

A portion of the wooden roller coaster had collapsed trapping one worker. The mishap happened late Saturday afternoon.

Miracle Strip Park has been closed since last Labor Day and the property was sold to a condominium developer. The rides and attractions are being sold to other parks in several countries

Saturday's accident happened while the roller coaster, one of the last few remaining all wood coasters in the country, was being dismantled to be shipped to Wild Adventures Amusement Park in Valdosta, Ga.

One worker was trapped underneath and reportedly sustained an arm injury.

The Starliner was the first ride built at Miracle Strip Amusement Park when it opened 42 years ago.

Panama City Beach police are investigating the caused of Saturday's mishap. The cause isn't known yet.
