Arkansas Police Chief Critical after PCB Hit-and-run

The victim of a hit-and-run accident Friday night on Thomas Drive was listed in critical condition Saturday.

The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. at Thomas and Quarts Street.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jimmy Christo Jr. of Panama City Beach was on Thomas, turning left onto Quarts.

He cut off Joe Landers, who was riding his motorcycle in the opposite direction on Thomas. The motorcycle hit the car and Landers flew over the hood and landed on the pavement. The FHP said Christo them drove off.

Landers was taken to Bay Medical Center, where he was in critical condition on Saturday.

Investigators eventually found Christo and arrested him for leaving the scene of an accident with serious injuries. Christo also faces other charges related to possession of drugs and alcohol.

Landers, the police chief of Lowell, Ark., was not wearing a helmet. He was vacationing in Panama City Beach when the accident occurred.
