Saturday was Kevin Kight Day at the water park. A portion of the proceeds will go to a fund set up for the family of the fallen Panama City Beach police officer.
Adult admission prices were $7 less than usual. Sgt. Kight's family, along with several other police officers, attended the park.
Park officials say the special day was a decision made by all the employees.
Buddy Wilkes, Shipwreck Island GM, says, “We've had a couple of staff meetings and orientations meetings, and we talked about having a Kevin Kight Day, and they wanted to do it right out of the gate, opening day, and that's why we made that decision.”
Shipwreck Island is expecting bigger crowds this year since Miracle Strip next door has closed down.
