The investigation seems to be growing into the misuse of the Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council funds by the now deceased former Executive Director, Mark Bellinger.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is now expanding the investigation to include outside entities such as the FBI, The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the State Attorney’s Office.

They are investigating how Bellinger was able to spend thousands of taxpayer dollars including a $700,000 yacht without any oversight from the county. Okaloosa County Sheriff, Larry Ashley says he wants to ensure the public; law enforcement is conducting a thorough and detailed investigation.

Locals seem to be pleased to hear the investigation is being treated seriously.

“More needs to be done, I am glad the FBI is involved with this” said Lease Ginn, Okaloosa County resident.

“I think they need to double check all the TDCs and everyone that has a payroll or money involved” said Renee White, Okaloosa County resident.
