Jackson County and Houston County, Alabama investigators say they've taken a big step to breaking-up a theft ring that operated in the two states.

They arrested 25-year-old Anson Lockhart yesterday, after a short chase in the Campbellton area. The arrest came after the authorities served a search warrant at a home on State Road 2.

Deputies say they found a number of items stolen over the last several weeks in both states. During the raid investigators say Lockhart fled the scene on a stolen four-wheeler, which he abandoned, then tried to escape on-foot.

K-9 units eventually tracked him down.

Besides the stolen 4-wheeler, they recovered a Yamaha Raptor 660, some electronic items, and some tools.

They say they expect to make more arrests and recover even more stolen property.
