Court Martial Begins at Eglin Over War Booty Brought Back Home From Iraq

At a military trial in northwest Florida, an Air Force officer is denying responsibility for shipping home Russian-made assault rifles and other war souvenirs from Iraq.

The court-martial for Maj. Gregory McMillion started Tuesday at Eglin Air Force Base near Ft. Walton Beach. His court-martial is expected to take at least a week.

The maintenance officer is charged with violating orders against bringing home war booty, failing to report and turn over captured or abandoned property, making false statements and conduct unbecoming an officer.

Other contraband found in crates of electronic equipment McMillion is accused of shipping to Eglin included rocket propelled grenade launchers, inert land mines, empty artillery shells and a pair of seats from anti-aircraft artillery guns.
