Panama City- The Panama City chapter of the Red Cross remained on standby Sunday as emergency officials in Pensacola continued to deal with some of the worst flooding they've ever seen.

With more than a foot of rain falling in some places there, many streets and some businesses were completely under water. Pensacola Red Cross officials reached out to the Panama City chapter asking for help if needed, but Executive Director Bob Pearce said they were waiting for any severe weather to move through this area first before deploying their services to Pensacola.

"When something really starts developing, you don't know at that time how big it's going to get. A lot of times the same weather that affects Pensacola is also going to affect us," said Pearce.

Pearce said if he does send help, it'll most likely be damage assestment team members and emergency shelter workers.
