A 12-member local circuit court jury has given its recommendation to a judge in the Christopher Offord murder trial: death by lethal injection.
The jury deliberated throughout the morning Thursday and recommended the death penalty for Offord just before noon. The sentencing phase of the murder trial lasted two and a half days.
Offord pleaded guilty to killing his estranged wife, Dana Noser, last July. He says he used a hammer to beat Noser to death after voices told him to do it.
Circuit Judge Dedee Costello will formally sentence Offord in July. She's expected to give him what the jury recommended, death by lethal injection.
