More people are using the Panama City Airport, but air freight shipments are down. That news is coming as two and possibly three members of the Airport Authority Board prepare to step down.
Friday was the final meeting for Jim Smallwood, who is resigning after one term, and James Campbell, who has served the two terms allowed under state law.
Authority Chairman Jimmy Patronis finished his first term as well. It will be up to the new board to decide whether to reappoint him at their meeting next month.
New members Gerry Clemons and Andy McKenzie were in the audience for Friday's meeting. Clemons was appointed by the Panama City Commission and McKenzie was appointed to the by the Bay County Commission.
As for those airport numbers, the number of passengers flying in and out of Panama City was up three percent in May, but freight shipments were down 21 percent.
