One Person Dies, Two Other Injured in Weekend Fire

The State Fire Marshall’s Office is still investigating a deadly fire in the Bayou George area of Bay County.

The fire started just before midnight late Friday night in a mobile home at 9004 Elder Lane off of Camp Flowers Rd. Investigators say 20-year-old Ryan McDonald was unable to escape the burning trailer and died in the flames.

Twenty-two-year-old Sarah Stallard was seriously burned and was flown to Shands Hospital in Gainesville where she is listed in critical condition.

Another person in the home, 18-year-old Teresa Connolly was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was listed as stable.

The Youngstown, Bear Creek and Bayou George Fire Departments were all called out to help with the efforts to put the blaze out.

Investigators from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office began working the scene. He was overcome by some type of fumes and was treated and released from a local hospital.

The State Fire Marshall says the cause has not been determined. The mobile home was a total loss.
