Defuniak Springs officials are flying high over a state grant for the city's airport.
Gov. Jeb Bush awarded the $84,000 grant through the Rural Infrastructure Fund.
The city plans to use the money to build a maintenance hangar and to expand Monarch Aviation. The city recently recruited the aircraft avionics company to locate in Defuniak Springs.
The grant money will match $282,000 the city raised to improve sewer and water lines, roads, runway and parking at the airport.
The airport is located within an Enterprise Zone, which the state has targeted for economic revitalization.
