In day one of the trial, prosecutor Steve Meadows spoke about a 1996 incident when a playmate hit Monique Turenne's son with a plastic hammer.
They say Turenne became very upset and was angry that her husband didn't feel the same way. On the stand, witnesses spoke about her reactions.
Mark Foxworthy, witness, says, "I heard her say that we can't or I can't keep having the kids coming home bloody faces being beat up all the time.”
Gary Wagner, also a witness, says, "She had told me that there was a 16-year-old delinquent that was threatening her son with the hammer; she felt like she needed a firearm to protect her son.”
Days later, Major David Turenne was killed with a hammer like object.
