Recreational fishermen may see more restrictions imposed on what they can or cannot catch.
NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, is proposing a three-month closure on fishing for all types of Grouper.
NOAA says this temporary closure would help restore an "over-fished" species, but area fishermen like George Eller say this temporary ban is bad idea, especially for the tourists who come to the area to fish for grouper.
"A complete grouper closure at this time would really be devastating for the time of the year that they want to do it."
If the ban is put in place, the restrictions on grouper fishing would go from October through December this year.
There will be a public meeting open to everyone Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Destin Community Center, and people are encouraged to attend and voice their opinions on this proposed ban.
