A banner plane crash Thursday afternoon at the Panama City-Bay County Airport resulted in a good deal of damage to the single engine plane, but luckily the pilot was not injured.
Initial indications are the pilot was trying to pick up a banner, but missed. He circled around for another pass but apparently ran into a pocket of air and the plane went down on the west side of the airport near the end of the short runway.
The mishap occurred around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The pilot, who was the only one on the plane, walked away from the crash.
An FAA and NTSB investigations will be conducted.
