The man accused of killing a Panama City Beach police officer earlier this year now faces attempted escape charges for allegedly sawing through bolts at the Bay County Jail in downtown Panama City.

Bay County sheriff's deputies searched 23-year-old Robert Bailey's cell Monday and found a hacksaw blade. They also found evidence Bailey had sawed through bolts that held a metal grate over a window in his cell.

Investigators say Bailey was even attempting to cut around the window to remove it completely.

A tip developed from the Drug Enforcement Administration led to the search.

Bailey is accused of shooting Panama City Beach Police Officer Kevin Kight on March 27, 2005. In addition to the murder charge, Bailey now faces attempted escape and introduction of contraband to a detention facility.
