The last 80 parcels of land available for development for the Hugh Nelson Industrial Park in Lynn Haven were approved for sale Friday by the Panama City-Bay County Airport Authority and Industrial District.
Chris Hine, a former executive at the St. Joe Company, bought the last 81 acres. Most of the land is wetlands and only about 29 acres are usable, according to Hines.
He says it will take up to a year and a half to get the necessary wetlands permits he needs.
The land is zoned for light industrial and Hine says he wants to attract office type businesses to the park.
The Airport Authority/Industrial District will be getting 4,000 acres of land for an industrial park at the new West Bay location for the airport. That deal hasn't been finalized yet.
Airport board member Jimmy Patronis, Jr. says he has reservations about selling the last bit of land the board owns at the industrial park before the deal with St. Joe is finalized.
He wanted the sale to be contingent on the new industrial park going forward, but the full board didn't see a need for the condition and voted to approve the sale to Hine and his company, Bluewater Development.
Sale price is $948,000.
