Lightning struck a Panama City Beach home Saturday night setting the house on fire. It happened around 6 o'clock in the Woodlawn neighborhood.
Witnesses say lightning struck the roof of the home on Greenwood Circle, igniting the attic. One woman was inside at the time, but she escaped without getting hurt.
Neighbor Ron Peterson said, "This squall came through, lots of lightning and thunder, a lot of lightning. We saw a couple of bolts hit within a house or two, and then all of a sudden the fire trucks started coming into Woodlawn. About four fire trucks came in. We drove over to take a look and unfortunately one of our homes was hit by lightning; quite a fire; quite a lot of damage to the house."
Several homes in the neighborhood lost power.
