A Washington County woman charged with killing her boyfriend made her first appearance in court Tuesday.
A judge ordered 42-year-old Karlene Alexander held without bond on an open count of murder. Deputies brought Alexander back from St. Petersburg overnight to face the charges. That's where she allegedly confessed to the crime.
Arrest reports say Alexander and her boyfriend, 43-year-old William Eugene Roberts, were drinking and arguing at their mobile home last Wednesday night.
She claims Roberts laid down on a couch and said something that made her angry. That's when Alexander allegedly hit Roberts four or five times with an ax, then stole his pick-up truck car and drove to a relative’s home in St. Petersburg.
Investigators discovered Roberts' body in the Tumble Creek Boulevard home late Sunday night. They say they found him lying in the living room with the ax next to him.
