Wednesday, Bay County welcomed its new County Manager on board.
It may have been his first day on the job, but Edwin Smith is not new to north Florida.
Smith had applied, and was runner up, for the same position 3-years ago.
He has worked at the local government level for 18 years. During the past five years Smith served as City Manager of Chiefland, Fl and Assistant County Administrator in Marion County, Fl.
He says he knows he has a big job to do, but is ready for the challenge. ? The County manager is responsible for basically 480 employees and getting the job done in all aspects of delivering services, long range planning and everything that happens from A to Z.?
Smith has signed a three-year contract with Bay County, but says he already hopes he stay a lot longer.
