Seventy-Five-Year-Old Man Slain, Two Suspects in Jail

The body of an elderly Walton County man has been found buried in a shallow grave in north Okaloosa County.

NewsChannel Seven learned over a week ago that Walton County sheriff’s deputies were looking into the disappearance of 76-year-old Webster F. McKinnon of 313 Purvey Campbell Road south of Ponce DeLeon.

When deputies went to the man’s home looking for him they found blood spattering and other evidence that led them to believe foul play was involved.His truck was missing.

Several Days later McKinnon’s truck was recovered from the Yellow River at Milligan in north Okaloosa County.

Two possible suspects were later arrested in Jackson County, Arkansas and in interviews with Walton County investigators they got enough evidence that they were able to find McKinnon body buried in a shallow grave.

Lawmen have not released the identities of the two suspects who have been returned to Florida and are being held in the Walton County Jail in DeFuniak Springs on grand theft charges involving the theft of the elderly man’s truck. Murder charges are pending.
