Benefit Fish Fry Labeled a Huge Success

Many in our community know what it’s like to be in the need of help after a hurricane, so, they always find a way to lend a helping hand.

Over 2,000 people turned out Wednesday for a fish fry lunch at Captain Anderson’s restaurant.

The event was held for the evacuees of Katrina and more that half the people who showed up were evacuees. They got to eat for free.

Every one else paid $10 for a plate of fried fish and all the trimming cooked up by the Patronis family and their staff.

Jimmy Patronis, Jr. told the crowd they raised $13,078 with the fish fry. It was on the third time in history the famous restaurant has been open for lunch. Each of the three times was for civic causes.

The event to feed the evacuees and raise money for disaster relief was sponsored by Captain Anderson’s, NewsChannel Seven - WJHG, The News Herald and Clear Channel Radio.
