The first IRS stimulus payments are out, and the next round of payments is on the way.

Most people who've received their checks have already done what the government intended for them to do. They've spent it, like this man visiting Panama City Beach this week.

Roger Jones, a tourist, said, "Actually, we got what we wanted, and we got what they said that we would get, and it was actually a couple days prior to the date that they said that they would come out."

Michael Cole, a PCB resident, said, "I expected $600 and that's what I got it. I'm gonna spend it, just like I do all my money."

"It sure was helpful with the gas prices, and I believe the economy will grow from it you know, because like I say, a lot of people are using it wisely to boost the economy."

But some people who've already received their checks were disappointed by the amount. Instead of $600, they only received half of that.

The Internal Revenue Service says the amount you receive depends on your tax liability, marital status, or other debts.

The IRS has an explanation, listing the guidelines on its website, irs.gov.

You can also check on the status of your check to see when it will arrive and how much you'll be getting.

If you still have questions about your check, IRS representatives say you'll receive a letter by mail two weeks after your payment arrives, explaining how much you got and why.

Family of four only receiving $1200, when we had expected $1800. We'll be waiting for our letter that explains why we didn't get $600 that was expected.
