An early morning tractor trailer accident on State Road 285 left one man seriously injured after hours of backup and road closure.

FHP tells us the cause of the accident was a wild turkey. It happened near the Okaloosa and Walton County line on State Road 285 around 6:10 this morning, about 7.5 miles north of College Blvd. in Okaloosa County.

Both the north and southbound lanes were closed for hours, following the accident. The driver of the tractor trailer, 32-year-old Daniel Milby, was hauling beer when a wild turkey flew into windshield, sending the DeFuniak Springs man out of control.

The truck actually jackknifed into the northbound lane.

In the meantime, 59-year-old Roger Bloomfield, also from DeFuniak Springs, was driving northbound on State Road 285. His small dodge pickup truck collided with the semi and actually drove into the truck's trailer.

Daniel Milby, the truck driver, was seriously injured and taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

FHP tells us the driver of the small truck, Roger Bloomfield, is suffering minor injuries.
