Alabama Teen Dies in Florida Crash Save Email Print

A Geneva, Alabama teenager has died in a traffic crash north of Ponce De Leon in Holmes County.

The Florida highway Patrol says 17 year old Casey L. Allen, a passenger in a compact car, died in the single vehicle crash.

Troopers say 1999 Ford Escort, driven by 20 Year old Jonothan A. McLean of Westville, started to go out of control when the tread on the left rear tire to separate striking the undercarriage of the vehicle.

The driver tried to apply the brakes, causing the small car to start to rotate on the roadway. The car then left the roadway, went into an ditch and then down a steep embankment where it rolled over at least three times.

The three passengers were all thrown from the car. McLean, the driver, was wearing a seat belt and sustained only minor injuries.

Of the three passengers, Allen died, 15 year old Steven Rodriguez was seriously injured and 21 year old Sarah Wood, 21, was critically injured.

Cpl. R. V. Warden is continuing the investigation.
