Participants in the event will gather at Pitt Spring at 7:30 Saturday morning to launch their canoes and kayaks, and the cleanup will start at 8.

Volunteers should register in advance and discounted canoe rental rates will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you don't want to get in the water you can still help by taking a guided tour of trails and roads around the creek cleaning up.

Tita Sokoloff, Bay County Natural Resource Planner, said, "We want to bring attention. We want to get people out there understanding how much trash is there, how important it is not to litter the area plus have fun with it, so we get everybody in canoes and kayaks and go down the river and collect all the previous season's cans, bottles, trash, you name it."

Music, food, drinks, and prizes will be provided following the cleanup. Call Alice Guay at (850) 215-5590 or e-mail aguay.best@knology.net.
