An Ohio man will spend 40 years in federal prison for leading a multi-state prostitution ring that involved girls as young as 13.
Twenty-seven-year-old Wayne Banks of Toledo, Ohio, was sentenced Tuesday in Pensacola. That's where he was arrested in March after Escambia County sheriff's deputies saw a juvenile talking with a potential customer.
Court records say Banks and other men traveled with, or sent young females to states including Pennsylvania and Georgia to engage in prostitution.
Banks pleaded guilty in July to six federal charges including conspiracy to engage in interstate transportation of minors for criminal sexual activity.
Banks says the underage girls presented themselves as adults and were willing participants in the prostitution.
He also must register as a sex offender.
