Two Mobile Homes Destroyed or Heavily Damage in Mid-Morning Blaze

The State Fire Marshal's Office is still trying to nail down the cause of a fire that destroyed one mobile home and damaged another Thursday morning in the Sand Hills area of north Bay County.

The fire at 1031 Skunk Valley Road broke out around 9:30 a.m. By the time firefighters arrived, the one home was covered in flames and they were quickly spreading to the second home.

At least four people were home in one of the trailers. They all got out safely.

One of the fire victims was William Cannon.

“It hurts pretty good to see your house and everything you own burn to the ground. It's the second time we're been through this. I went through this when I was six years old, we lost everything we had. Good thing is nobody was hurt. My mom's safe, everybody's safe," he says.

At this point authorities believe an electrical short may have started the fire, but they're still investigating.
