One Critically Burned in Early Friday Blaze

The are some new questions which have surfaced surrounding an early morning fire Friday at a mobile home in the 1500 block of June Ave.

The blaze started just after 2:00 a.m. The trailer was totally destroyed and the tentative cause of the fire was attributed to a short in an electrical court.

Four Hispanic men were inside when the fire broke out. One of them was critically burned and was flown to Shands Hospital in Gainesville for treatment. The other three were treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.

The only problem now, none of the four were supposed to be in the mobile home. The owner, Holly Callaway, said he had rented the home but they did not have permission to move in for another week. He says the home was unlivable and still needed repairs, which would take him about a week to complete.

The trailer and its contents were listed as a total loss.
