GCCC Gets a Million Dollar Donation

An anonymous donor Monday presented Gulf Coast Community College a check for $1 million.

College President Dr. Bob McSpadden and Trustees Chairman Bill Cramer say the gift will provide 67 perpetual scholarships for Gulf Coast students.

The gift, when matched dollar for dollar by the state, will provide $2 million to the college's Legacy of Trust Campaign.

Dr. McSpadden said it was by far the most generous gift the local college had ever received.

He and Cramer said they hoped to someday be able to thank the benefactor publicly. Why did the giver decided to donate the million.

McSpadden commented, "Because he always like the college."

The same un-named benefactor also gave one million dollars Monday to the F-S-U Panama City Branch Campus. The money, which will also be matched by the state, will be earmarked for campus coinstruction projects
