Stranded Juvenile Dolphin Rescued

A stranded baby dolphin was rescued Tuesday morning from a sand bar in North Bay not far from the Deer Point dam.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says a local fisherman found the dolphin and determined it was still alive.

First aid was administered by wildlife officers while the Gulf World Marine Park stranding team rushed to the area.

The calf is a male Bottle Nosed Dolphin. He is about four months old and weighs about 85 pounds.

He was transported to Gulf World at Panama City Beach where he is undergoing a series of health checks and tests.
