Questions Raised About Teen Death Probe

The family of a teenager who died after arriving at the Bay County Sheriff's Office Boot Camp is raising questions about the investigation into his death.

Martin Lee Anderson died last Friday morning after complaining of breathing problems during his first day at boot camp a day earlier. He complained after being restrained for what camp staff refereed to his, quote, "uncooperative" behavior.

That's when Anderson's family says camp staff harmed their son, evident in bruises on Anderson's face, a bloody nose, and split lips.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the 14-year-old boy’s death. The family is raising questions about that investigation because the head of the FDLE is Guy Tunnell, the former Sheriff of Bay County.

Benjamin Crump is the Anderson family’s attorney and says, “I'm not saying he can't be unbiased or independent, but it certainly compromises the integrity of the investigation."

Anderson's funeral is Saturday, the day before he would have turned 15.
