Each year Panama City Beach recruits thousands of spring breakers from around the world. This year will be no different.
The Tourist Development Council hired "Mr. Youth" marketing to go from college to college, recruiting "heads in beds" for spring break 06.
Mr. Youth has added something new this year, a downloadable mp3 podcast to get the word out in a "hip" fashion.
Paul Tedeshi, Mr. Youth CEO, says, "It just talks about what kids might want to do while they're in PCB on spring break. It's kind of one of these new marketing methods we use to reach students."
After a few years of condo construction and dwindling motel rooms, accommodations are once again on the rise. Panama City Beach has about 7,000 hotels, motels, and condos available to spring breakers in 06.
There are plenty of rooms still open now, but some say they're going fast. Marketers are also concentrating on the "shoulder periods," the last week of February and the last week of March, to try and keep the numbers high during those less popular times.
