In 5-weeks thousands of college students will be heading our way for Spring Break ‘06.
The Tourist Development Council is dealing with fewer motel rooms than years past, and stiffer competition from other destinations.
So the TDC hired a marketing firm called “Mr. Youth” to recruit college kids nationwide. One of Mr. Youth's new tools is a downloadable mp3 podcast, advertising local spring break events.
Panama City Beach has about 7,000 available condo, hotel, and motel rooms they're filling up fast.
Paul Tedeschi is the CEO of Mr. Youth and says, "We're optimistic right now. There's a lot of searching and price shopping but we expect over the next couple weeks most hotels will find occupancy filling up for those three peak weeks."
