No one was hurt mid-morning Friday when the front landing gear on a private plane collapsed at the Panama City-Bay County International Airport.
The twin engine Cessna was landing shortly before 8 a.m. when the gear collapsed and then came to a screeching halt. The plane was nose down on the main runway, warping the tips of the propellers on the engines.
The engines may have seized during the incident, causing even more damage, according to one aviation source.
The airport crew was able to support the plane and move it off the runway in about an hour. The main runway was then reopened to commercial and general aviation flights without any further problems.
