Bay County health officials are warning people about a sewage leak.
It happened late Wednesday afternoon at the sewage plant near the corner of West 23rd Street and Michigan Avenue in St. Andrews.
A broken sanitary sewer line discharged untreated sewage into the storm drain. The storm drain runs along 23rd Street and eventually dumps into Poston Bayou and adjacent West Bay.
Sewage contaminated water can cause intestinal viruses, bacteria and parasites, so the Health Department is advising people against swimming in these waters until further notice.
