Police Look for Two Men in Child Lure Case

Bay County sheriff's officials are looking for two men who they believe attempted to pick up an 11-year-old Bay County girl at her bus stop Friday morning.

Sheriff's deputies say the Surfside Middle School student was waiting at the bus stop just off Highway 79 in the West Bay area by herself when two men pulled up in an older-model faded black station wagon with a Florida license plate.

Deputies believe the men asked her multiple times to come closer to the car to which the girl replied several times, "no." That's when one of the men, the passenger, made an attempt to get out of the car possibly to walk over closer to the girl.

Then the girl ran to a nearby relative's home. When she got to the front yard, the men drove closer and continued to watch her for a few minutes before leaving the scene. She was not able to read the license plate.

Bay County sheriff's officials are looking for the two men. They are described as either white or possibly Hispanic, in their 30's, and wearing construction-type clothes. The passenger was wearing a bandana on his head (color unknown).

The girl was unharmed. If anyone has any information, please call the Bay County Sheriff's Office at 747-4700.
