Pier Park is in the process of building about one million square feet of restaurants, entertainment and retail stores, and three more venues have just signed on.
Although a complete list of Pier Park entertainment is not out, we're slowly but surely adding more definites. Two restaurants, The Back Porch Seafood House, and Reggae J's Island Grill are aboard, as well as the famous Ron Jon Surf Shop.
Add that to the Target store and a giant movie theater coming, and it's sounding like a fun place already.
As Bay County continues to grow, having activities and entertainment is vital for its tourism. Te Simon Property Group signed on as the Pier Park developers, and once construction starts the buildings will come fast.
Target is supposed to open in November of this year, and the first movie to be shown in the giant theater complex is on December 26.
Bob Warren, the Executive Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, says this will be a hot spot for locals as well as tourists.
"This is a fast growing product, it's the talk of the state, PCB is in a great place right now, and we're fortunate all this development is taking place."
Right now Bay County has about four million leisure visitors a year. The Tourist Development Council says Pier Park could jump that number up to about 6.5 million visitors.
