Okaloosa Sheriff’s deputies investigating a purse-snatching Friday night discovered the suspect is wanted in Duplin County North Carolina on charges of murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Roy Rickal Stallings, 31, permanent address unknown, is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview.
An Okaloosa deputy called to 824 Dawes Road Friday night in connection with suspicious activity noticed items in a car that belonged to the victim of a purse snatching.
A man nearby, who matched the description of the purse snatcher, identified himself as Lawrence Smith. However, checks by the deputy revealed that Smith was not his real name. He was taken into custody for giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.
A check on the suspect’s fingerprints later revealed his true identity, and the murder warrants issued out of North Carolina.
