Guilty Plea

A suspect arrested for a murder in Cottondale less than a month ago is already in court entering a plea to a charge of second degree murder with a firearm.

Nineteen-year-old Tereinthius R. Giles pled to the February 5 shotgun slaying of 33-year-old Lamond J. Poole.

State Attorney Steve Meadows said Giles entered his plea "straight-up," that is, with no agreement. He could be sentenced from 25 years to life in prison.

Chief Circuit Court Judge William L. Wright ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for March 21 in Jackson County Circuit Court.
