Jail Time for DUI Deaths

A 24-year-old Bay County man will spend the next 15 years in prison for a DUI crash that killed two people.

Shawn L. Lenker pled to two counts of DUI manslaughter and two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury in connection with and accident in May 2004.

It happened on Highway 77 about four miles north of Lynn Haven.

State troopers say Lenker swerved into ongoing traffic and struck a van. The van's driver, James C. Marshall, and his wife Betty M. Marshall, died as a result of the crash.

Their son, Louis Marshall, and his friend Dee Corbin were badly injured.

Authorities say Lenker's blood alcohol level was .136; .080 is legally drunk in Florida.

The judge also sentenced Lenker to 15 years of probation and permanently revoked his driver's license.
