After record low unemployment at the end of the year, the new jobless figures for January showed all area counties up in unemployment, although it’s still very close to previous records.
Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gulf and Holmes Counties each showed about a third of a percent increase in individual county jobless rates to the three and a half percent total. The January figures were released by the state Thursday morning.
Jackson, Liberty, Okaloosa, Walton and Washington Counties each showed increases, but mostly one or two tenths of a percent over their record lows in the three percent range. The figures are for the month of January.
The lowest unemployment in Florida in January was Wakulla County, the Crawfordville area at 2.2 percent.
