There's been another big shakeup within the Florida Department of Corrections.
Acting Secretary Jim McDonough fired nine top people, saying they do not have his confidence to lead department personnel in the way they deserve to be led, so he's replacing them with people that do.
McDonough axed four wardens, including the warden at Florida State Prison in Starke, three assistant wardens, and two regional directors.
In our area, Region One Director Al Solomon, Rick Anglin the Warden at Washington Correctional Institute in Greenhead and Dale Hughes, the Assistant Warden at Gulf Correctional Institute at Wewahitchka are all out of a job.
Wendel Whitehurst will take over as Region One Director. Ronnie Harris will leave his post as Warden in Martin County to take over in Greenhead.
There’s no word on Hughes' replacement.
