An Okaloosa County woman accused of selling fake identification across the panhandle is now in jail.
Sixty-two-year-old Joan Webster operates a used car lot in Fort Walton Beach. Police say she also had an illegal side business selling fake IDs to illegal immigrants.
Deputies recently found one of the fake cards here in Bay County. Their investigation found Webster had been visiting Spanish speaking churches from Pensacola to Tallahassee selling the IDs to illegal immigrants for 50 bucks.
They say she even advertised the cards in a small newspaper she publishes and circulates in the Hispanic community.
Webster is charged with issuing a false identification card. Lawmen say they don’t know how many cards she has sold, but some estimates say it could possibly be in the hundreds.
