The Florida Health Department is recognizing this week, May 6-12 as National Nurse Week.
The week focuses on how nurses save and improve lives of their patients. At the Jackson County Health Department, officials said they recognize their nurses with certificates for all their hard work.
Nurses there said the work is hard but the lasting impact they make on their patients make it worthwhile.
"I really had the desire to help people and work with people one on one. the point of getting attached the people, your clients, patients sometimes that can be difficult because you do form bonds with people," said Gale Allen, Jackson County Health Department Director of Nursing.
