Beach Hit and Run Fatality

A visitor to Panama City Beach was killed in an early morning hit and run accident on Front Beach Road.

Police say it happened just after five Friday morning in front of the Quality Inn in the 15,000 block of Front Beach. The driver of an SUV hit the 22-year-old man from Louisiana while he was crossing front beach road.

So far police haven't released the victim's name but they tell us he is a spring breaker.

Police caught up with the driver at a local diner and was taken in for questioning.

Major David Humphreys, Assistant Beach Police Chief, says they are also looking for a second car.

“A pale green minivan, possibly like a Chevy Astrovan or a Ford Windstar, the hood is supposed to stick out in front of the windshield a bit, so it’s that type of vehicle. This vehicle may have some front end damage or windshield damage, something like that."

If you have information that could help, you're asked to call Panama City Beach Police at 233-5000.
