Local fire crews are still working to clean up a brush fire they believe was started by a group of kids Sunday afternoon.
The fire, which came within just feet of homes, broke out around 2:30 off Hidden Island Drive in Panama City Beach.
Firefighters say the blaze burned about two and half acres. While no official cause has been determined, sheriff s deputies have a group of children they are questioning who they believe may have started the fire.
One neighbor reports hearing kids playing in the woods just before the fire started.
"My friend and I were laying in the backyard and we heard some kids back there. The next thing you know saw or heard the brush moving like fire and I jumped over the fence and saw there was a fire started. I called to my friend to put my dog inside and call 911 while I was grabbing a water hose."
The good news is at this time no injuries or home damage has been reported.
