It’s the fourth local pedestrian fatality in less than a week. Two of the fatalities have been hit and run accidents.
The Panama City Beach Police Department is currently investigating a hit and run traffic crash that occurred in the 10000 block of Front Beach Road near the Super Wal-Mart.
The fatality was identified as 33-year-old Colleen Martin from Hanover Pa.
She and her husband Montey Martin, 42, were walking east along in the Long Beach area near Sunsations Surf Shop. Jeremy Peer, 19, of Westland, MI, was operating a 2006 black Jeep Commander traveling westbound on Front Beach Road.
Beach Police say Jeremy Peer struck Montey Martin and Colleen Martin on the shoulder of the road. Mr. Martin suffered serious injuries and his wife was pronounced dead on scene.
After striking the pedestrians Jeremy Peer fled the scene and was apprehended about a mile away.
Jeremy Peer is charged with one count of leaving the scene of a traffic crash involving death and one count of leaving the scene with great bodily injury.
The Panama City Beach Police Department was assisted by the State Attorney’s Office in this investigation.
