Two traffic deaths were reported in the Bay County area Saturday.
Panama City police say Charles Henry Hills, Jr. was killed shortly after 4 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 231 and East Ave in Hiland Park.
Investigators say a semi-tractor trailer rig turned into the path of Hill’s motorcycle.
The collision caused a fire that destroyed the motorcycle and disabled the large truck. Highway 231 was closed for five hours while the debris was cleared and the investigation continued.
Charges are pending.
Meanwhile, the collision of two motorcycles on State Road 388 at Burnt Mill Creek on April third claimed another life this weekend.
Thirty-seven-year-old Paul Smith died from injuries sustained in that accident. He had been on life support for three weeks.
The man who hit Smith, 59-year-old Richard Lee Miller, died at the scene. His motorcycle was coming out of a curve, crossed the centerline and hit Smith’s motorcycle.
