Standoff Ends With No Suspect

Walton County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who was responsible for a police standoff.

A woman called authorities around 9:30 Monday morning reporting her boyfriend, 36-year-old Jimmy Robert Plate, was threatening suicide.

By the time deputies arrived at the home on Hal Street in the Villa Tasso community, the woman had escaped the stand off. But her 15-year-old son was still inside.

Deputies set up outside of the house. They managed to get the teenager out of the house. But they discovered Plate slipped out, shortly before the first deputy arrived on the scene.

They're now looking for him. If you have any information, please call the Walton County Sheriff's Office in DeFuniak Springs at 892-8111.
