The number of schools receiving an "A" this year jumped almost 50 percent from 13 last year to 19 "As" this year.

Everitt and Rosenwald Middle Schools improved two letter grades from a "C" last year, to an "A" this year, but right down the street, Springfield Elementary showed some problems, falling from an "A" last year to a "C" this year, and the school everyone's been wondering about; was Larry Bolinger able to pull Bay High up from a "D?"

Yes, but not as much as the school was hoping for. Bay High came in with a "C" this year.

"If you're low in one area for two years you automatically get penalized a grade. They are really a “B” school, but the way they get penalized they get written up as a “C.”
